Who we are

Guest and registered accounts

You can play Worldoku without creating an account. When you first open the app, a guest (anonymous) session is created automatically so your local progress can be saved. Guest sessions are not linked to any personal information.

If you choose to create an account, your progress is synced across devices and you gain access to leaderboards, badges, and challenges. You can delete your account at any time from your profile screen, which permanently removes all your personal data from our systems.

What data we collect

We collect only what is needed to run the game:

• Account info — email address and a username you choose, used to sign in and display your name on leaderboards. Guest users have no email or username stored.
• Game stats — total games played, wins, current and best streak, scores, hints used, and badges earned. This powers your profile and the leaderboard.
• Competition data — puzzle answers and timing when you participate in a challenge with friends.
• Analytics events — in-app actions such as game completions, difficulty selections, button taps, and screen views. These are collected to help us understand how the app is used and improve the experience. Events are associated with an anonymous identifier, not your name or email.
• Error reports — crash logs and error details if something goes wrong in the app, used to fix bugs. These may include device model, OS version, and a stack trace, but not personal information.
• Push notification token — if you enable daily puzzle reminders, your device's notification token is stored locally on your device. We do not use it for marketing.

We do not collect your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or any other sensitive personal data.

How we use your data

• To save your progress and sync it across sessions and devices.
• To display your stats on your profile and the global leaderboard.
• To run multiplayer competitions between players.
• To award badges based on your performance.
• To analyse app usage patterns and improve the game experience.
• To diagnose and fix crashes and errors.
• To send you a daily puzzle reminder if you opt in to notifications.

We do not sell your data, use it for marketing, or share it with third parties except as described below.

Third-party services

Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider. Your account data and game stats are stored on Supabase servers. See Supabase's privacy policy.

Google AdMob — we display ads to support the app. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads. On iOS, we ask for your permission before allowing personalised ads via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can decline and still use the app fully. See Google's privacy policy.

PostHog — we use PostHog for product analytics to understand how features are used. PostHog receives anonymous event data (no name, email, or device identifiers). See PostHog's privacy policy.

Sentry — we use Sentry for error and crash monitoring. Sentry may receive device information, OS version, and error stack traces when the app crashes. We have configured Sentry to not send personally identifiable information. See Sentry's privacy policy.

Data retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (available in-app from your Profile screen), your personal data is permanently removed from our systems. Guest session data is deleted automatically if the device has not been used for 12 months.

Your rights

You can:

• Access or update your username and avatar from your profile screen at any time.
• Delete your account directly from the Profile screen — this permanently removes all your data immediately.
• Request a copy of your data by emailing [email protected].
• Opt out of personalised ads by declining the tracking prompt on iOS, or by adjusting your ad preferences in your device settings on Android.
• Disable push notifications at any time from the app's Settings screen or your device's notification settings.

Children

Worldoku is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Guest play requires no personal information at all. If a child creates an account, a parent or guardian may contact us to request deletion of that account's data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
