About Worldoku
Worldoku is a free daily geography puzzle that blends the logic of a grid puzzle with real-world geography.
Each day you get a 3×3 grid. Three category labels run down the side and three run across the top. Your job is to fill all nine cells with a country that satisfies both the category for its row and the category for its column — for example, a country that is both In Europe and Landlocked. It’s a fast, satisfying way to test (and grow) what you know about the world’s countries.
How it works
Worldoku draws on a hand-curated dataset of nearly 200 countries and dozens of categories — continents, oceans and seas, land borders, population, languages, religion, political and economic memberships, physical geography and more. A new puzzle is released every day, with four difficulty levels from Easy to Expert, plus unlimited random games.
Where the data comes from
Worldoku’s country facts — borders, populations, memberships, languages, religion and physical geography — are compiled from public, authoritative sources, including the United Nations, the World Bank, the CIA World Factbook, UNESCO, the European Union, NATO, OPEC, ASEAN, Pew Research Center, Ethnologue and Encyclopædia Britannica, among others. Figures reflect recent estimates and may change over time. For the trickier judgment calls — transcontinental countries, disputed island nations, religion at the margins — see our FAQ.
